Song History
This song is probably the quickest thing I've ever written and recorded. After Tilly, it was not my intention to write another instrumental yet, but the K-v-R website
has a monthly songwriting competition which intregued me. In June 2004, the
topic was Sci-fi movie Soundtrack. So I thought I'd have a go at it. This is my attempt at music for the opening titles of a
sci-fi movie. As it turns out I only missed the deadline for the competition by two weeks. Doh!
In May 2005 and with little time to write a new song for their competition, I decided to remix the version I'd started and submit it.
This tune was entirely written on keyboards, (which I'm starting to learn to play) and features no guitars (or vocals) at all.
The title Fables and the Deconstruction somehow appeared in my ideas book a few years ago and I have no idea where I got it from originally. Mail me if you know (I've looked on google and there are several articles called "Fables of the Deconstruction",
so I had probably read one of those and mis-wrote it in my ideas book)? I have also recently been informed (May 2005) that REM have an album called "Fables of the reconstruction", which may have been a good
title for a possible sequal to this song.
The general comment I get about this track is either the love or hatred of the drums at the end, I did toy with the idea of removing the drums but decided they should be left there.
