Song History
Baited Breath was originally written on the 5th December 1993, whilst in
Shallow.
The song was rehearsed only once, but since it was written too close to their
one and only gig, it was dropped.
The intro, was written as a joke really, since we, often, used to rehearse
without cymbals, using other percussion that we didn't have seemed a good way
to start the song. The details was worked out later.
Several version of this appear on various ideas tapes between 1993 and 1999. This version
of the song was originally started in October 2000, using Cubasis. All except
the drums and percussion were scrapped when the song was moved to Cubase, due to
the differing sample rates on my then new soundcard.
This was the first song recorded in Cubase, so has been a big learning
experience, of both trying to record it and trying to produce it.
All the guitar parts were recorded with the B.C Rich through the Roland UA-100.
The current downloadable file, is the 2003 remix, where the drum and percussion samples
and vocals are updated, so pretty much nothing of the original Cubabsis version is left.
Lyrics
Damn the River of Truth
The truth lies within not without
Stop the moment of truth
Am I guilty of the Ultimate Sin
I have no lingering Doubt
You criticise my intent
I hate myself, hate myself for my descent
Rape my Mind
Bleed me Dry
Forward I tread, with Baited Breath
I changed to make you happy
Alienated myself from you
You made me so unhappy
and in the end you made me choose
I have no lingering doubt
I compromised my beliefs
I hate myself 'cos I deceived
